The Health and Safety Committee, established in CWA Local 9588’s bylaws, works to promote a safe and healthy workplace for all members. The committee represents employees in safety matters, identifies workplace hazards, reviews incidents, and helps assess and reduce risks.

The committee also helps develop and improve safety policies, provides training and education on workplace rights and regulations (including OSHA and Cal/OSHA), and advocates for safe working conditions. When necessary, it may assist in filing complaints to protect members.

Committee members may also participate in Joint Health and Safety Committees with employers, meeting regularly with company safety staff and union representatives. Through collaboration and advocacy, the committee helps ensure member voices are heard and workplace safety remains a priority.
